- Where did you find the air dam?
It is made by Xenon, part # 5311 and attaches to the factory bumper cover using tape or glue and
6 mounting screws. It fits 89-92 T-Bird SC's and 92 Birds with fog lights.
Xenon can be contacted at (800) 999-8753. They can put you in contact with a
local distributor.
- Where can I buy a hood like that?
The hood was custom made to accommodate the tall intake and supercharger. It is one of a kind
however there are several companies that make aftermarket hoods for the Birds.
Legendary hoods and Cervini's are a few.
- What is the wing from?
It is actually the factory wing for a 92 Mitsubishi 3000 GT. The easiest place to find one at a
decent price are the Mitsubishi club web sites.
www.3si.org/ is one of the sites you may try. The
dealer wants a small fortune for one and they seem to be pretty scarce in the junk yards.
- How did you install front coilovers?
Mike Hurst at Tune Tech Motorsports designed and built the top and bottom mounts to fit in the
factory strut mounting points. This enables us to swap the race setup for a
more streetable one with just a few bolts.
- Does the Super Coupe 5-speed (M5R2) bolt up to a 5.0?
Yes, but you will need a 164 tooth 50oz unbalance
flywheel. The Mustang flywheel is a 157 tooth and will not work. The
diameter
isn't large enough to engage the teeth on the starter. Mc Leod industries can
build one in either aluminum or steel. I am using their dual disc clutch setup
as well but they offer more streetable and less expensive clutches as well.
Mcleod can be contacted at (714) 630-2764 or (714) 630-3668 for tech
service.
- How hard is it to swap a 5.0 into a 3.8 Bird or a Supercoupe?
Really, it isn't all that bad. Luckily the 5.0
was an option so the parts needed are available (for the most part) from the
Ford dealer. You will need a set of motor mounts for a 5.0 T-bird. Assuming
you want a fuel injected motor, you will need to swap the computer and wiring
harness as well. The easiest way to do the conversion is to find a wrecked 5.0
Bird so you will have everything you need. If you are starting out with a
Mustang Motor, one thing to keep in mind is that the drivers side header will
not fit around the steering shaft. You will need the factory
exhaust manifold
for a Thunderbird or a set of JBA headers 5.0 Thunderbird headers.
